About Dolls in Amber

We're a production company founded by a couple of geeky women, excited by the challenge of making sci-fi theatre on a dime. Our mission is to put non straight-white-male narratives front and centre in genres where we're usually relegated to eye-candy or canon fodder, and tell audacious stories that audiences wouldn't expect to see onstage without a tonne of CGI. We stage the 'unstageable' (a genuine note we got on our 5★ debut Villain, Interrupted)

Alternative names included Screaming Harpies and the Anti-rich-straight-men Brigade but we were advised these might be too "caustic" - thus,

Dolls in Amber was born!

Micha is a working class, multi Offie nominated director and dramaturg represented by The Soho Agency. She has worked across screen and stage, including: I,DIDO for St George’s Bloomsbury, since adapted into a short film winning 24 awards internationally; Disney’s immersive THE NUTCRACKER, and two site specific pieces for James Patterson/Penguin - a courtroom drama (in collaboration with James Patterson) and a 12 hour immersive prison experience. She created the NHS commissioned MILIFE program for mental health in schools, since developed into a cartoon starring Jo Brand and Doc Brown. Her fringe shows have been nominated for Off West End awards four times and she has also directed a number of national tours. She was Assistant Director for PUBLIC DOMAIN at the Vaudeville theatre, and directed the Christmas Season of NEWSREVUE 22/23 (world’s longest running sketch show). Her cyber punk piece LETHE previewed at The Pleasance and played at The Kings Head Theatre to 4/5 star reviews and a Standing Ovation Award. She was shortlisted for the Vault 5 and is currently working on radical queer feminist wrestling show SASQUATCH which will commence a national tour early next year.

Micha specialises in edgy, cerebral theatre with an original twist. She has a natural affinity for pushing boundaries, both in theatre and in life, and won an extreme ironing competition when she was 11. Yes, that is as badass as it sounds.
